American Express International has named a new president for Asia, card services and a new vice president and general manager for proprietary card services in Hong Kong. The appointment of Yat-Chung (Y C) Koh to the position of President and Susanna Lee to vice underlines American Express’ “increased effort to capitalise on the thriving opportunities in Asia’s premium card markets", the firm said in a statement. According to AMEX, Koh has more than two decades of experience across different Asian markets, and “tremendous knowledge of the card markets in Asia”. “He has demonstrated track record of significant achievements in devising strategies that drive strong card billings and revenue, and enhancing services and benefits for various premium consumer cards which separate American Express from the pack,” the firm said. He also created a number of innovative programs to enhance customer engagement and experience, including “Reaching Out with a Smile, an appreciation initiative to business partners and card members,” according to the statement. “We have witnessed burgeoning opportunities in Asia and are dedicated to bringing new value to our affluent customers in Asia of what the franchise promises as the world’s premier service brand,” Koh said. Prior to this position, she was vice president and general manager, global merchant services, East Asia and was responsible for the strategic development of American Express’ merchant network and relationships in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Lee is also the executive sponsor of Women’s Interest Network, an employee initiative seeking to improve work-life balance for working women and working mothers.
In his expanded role, Koh will spearhead the consumer card business in Asia, covering consumer cards issued by American Express across Asia as well as consumer cards issued with bank partners and financial institutions in more than 10 markets.
Prior to this capacity, he oversaw international consumer and small business services in Asia and has held a number of leadership positions.
Meanwhile, in her new role, Lee is charged with the responsibility of leading the development of consumer card products, strategy execution, portfolio management, customer acquisition and marketing for consumer cards issued by American Express.
