Deutsche Bank has appointed Rafik Nayed - latterly interim chief executive of the Libyan Investment Authority - as vice chairman for the Middle East and North Africa.

Nayed will serve as a member of Deutsche’s MENA executive committee and will report to Ashok Aram, CEO for that region.

“His extensive experience in the financial, sovereign wealth management and energy sectors will play an important role and will positively contribute to the development of the bank's MENA franchise across all businesses,” Aram said in a statement.

Prior to his role at the Libyan Investment Authority, Nayed was head of strategy and business development for Oilinvest Netherlands, and head of utilities and infrastructure at Amwal Investment Bank in Qatar.
