The partners of London-based chartered accountancy firm Hillier Hopkins have launched Satis Asset Management, a wealth management firm focused on serving those over the age of 55 with between £500,000 (about $750,000) and £10 million in investible assets. Based in London, Satis will provide asset management services to existing Hillier Hopkins clients as well as new ones, advising on investment and tax. Specifically, the firm assists in the areas of estate planning, risk management, asset management, retirement planning and charitable giving. It also provides specialist advice for US citizens living in the UK, via a family office fee-based approach that combines wealth management and tax advice. This is at a time of continued debate about how the US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act is said to be affecting the delivery of financial services to expat US citizens. Ross Badger, director at Satis, said the firm's founders identified an opportunity following the increased regulatory burden as a result of legislative change in the US. This is causing many private banks and wealth mangers in the UK to turn away US citizen clients, he added. The firm advises over 130 wealthy families and is led by Ross Badger and Ben Sherwood, also a director. Other team members include Debbie Wilson, associate; David Hearne, wealth management advisor; Thomas Gibbs, tax supervisor; Laura Martin, client service manager; and Jessica Crackett, client service administrator.
