Arbuthnot Latham & Co, the UK-based private bank, has appointed Ian Avery as a chartered wealth planner, with immediate effect. Avery was latterly a chartered financial planner at Shipman Financial Planning, having previously been an independent financial advisor within the wealth management team of JLT. The appointment of Avery closely follows that of Martyn Elliott-Cannon, who joined Arbuthnot’s Exeter branch as a senior private banker last month. Elliott-Cannon was previously a private banker at Coutts. Arbuthnot Banking Group has in fact made a string of senior hires in recent months. Back in September former Coutts senior manager Liz Bottomley was given the role of head of private banking, while the same month saw Linda Amili Clack appointed to the new position of international banking director, head of Middle East private banking. Clack was formerly head of the Mubarakia Limited Family Office. Arbuthnot currently has some 10 wealth planners on its roster, around half of whom have been hired recently.
