The UK's Brewin Dolphin has confirmed that Allan Riddell, formerly head of investment management at Scottish stockbroker Speirs & Jeffery, is to join the firm's Glasgow office on 5 November. It is unclear at this stage what Riddell's exact job title will be, but it is understood that he will report to Stephen Martin, investment director and head of the Glasgow office. At Speirs & Jeffery, Riddell also served as senior associate director, while providing discretionary and advisory services to clients. The addition of Riddell is another example of how Brewin has been expanding its regional network in recent months. In May, for example, chairman Jamie Matheson said the launch of an office in Bristol represented the firm's long-held objective of establishing a presence in the southwest of England. More recently, this week the firm made a senior hire in Ipswich, appointing Andrew Wheeler as a divisional director and head of its office there. It also boosted its regional presence in Newcastle at the end of August, adding Ian Cooper - latterly of Quilter - as an investment companies analyst.
