Market volatility continued throughout September, resulting in another month of extreme net inflows and outflows in different sectors, according to the latest figures from Cofunds, the UK financial services platform. The Strategic Bonds sector overtook Mixed Investment 20-60 Per Cent Shares to be the month’s most popular sector, the former accounting for 271 per cent of net sales. M&G Optimal Income was the key fund in this sector (coming in at third place overall), followed by the Jupiter Strategic Bond fund in tenth place. Mixed Investment 20-60 Per Cent Shares dropped into second place, accounting for 187 per cent of net sales. Jupiter Merlin Income was, however, the number one selling fund both in the sector and on the Cofunds platform overall. The Global Equity Income (109 per cent) and Absolute Return (101 per cent) sectors also remained in favour in September. Turning to outflows, UK Equity Income saw the most dramatic outflow over the month, accounting for -135 per cent of net sales. Specialist, UK All Companies, Europe Ex UK and Property were also out of favour, with movements of -99 per cent -98 per cent, -82 per cent and -64 per cent respectively.
