The Washington-based multi-family office Threshold Group is rolling out a set of investment advisory and financial planning services for individual families whose wealth ranges from between $5 and $50 million.

Threshold Wealth Management is designed for private individuals and families who want personalized investment advice and financial planning, but without the complete array of additional family office services. The firm said the offering is "a direct outgrowth" of its broader family office service program, based on household-level services which are often provided as part of a broader family office client relationship.

“This offering focuses on three essentials: investment needs, strategic financial planning for taxable individuals and a deeply dedicated one-on-one advisory relationship,” said Dan Geary, managing director and business leader for Threshold Wealth Management. He added that the new wealth management offering will be “right-sized” for those families who have created significant wealth but who require something which is more simple than a "full-on" family office model.

Back in June, the firm announced that it and the National Center for Family Philanthropy will begin working together on building links between private family foundations and family offices, under a new initiative. The organizations will produce research, publish reports and use social media to identify and publicize “best practices” for how family offices and private foundations can work together to create the biggest overall impact. Work was forecast to get underway in Q2.

At present, Threshold guides private family investments of $2.7 billion and serves a client base of over 50 families and family foundations across the US.

In March this year, Threshold Group spoke to this publication about its the launch of its peer-to-peer forum for its clients. The program includes a new forum called The Community Square, due to start his fall with an event in Chicago, IL. The Community Square is an extension of other client-networking programs that have been under way at the firm, such as The Parenting Community. (To view that article, click here.)
