Aggarwal, who will focus on the Gulf market, will be advising both high and ultra high net worth clients.

Aggarwal has held various senior wealth management roles at firms including HSBC Private Bank, Citi Private Bank, and ANZ Grindlays. He has particular experience in complex credit solutions, trust structuring and UHNW multi-asset investment mandates, Barclays said in a statement.

MENA is just one of the regions in which Barclays has been building up its teams. Earlier this month the firm boosted its coverage of the African market with the appointment of Francis Esem Wood as a managing director in wealth and investment management.

Covering the West African market, Wood will be based in London and will report to Henry Fischel-Bock, managing director and head of Central and Eastern Europe and offshore Africa. Wood was latterly managing director at JHX Management, where he was responsible for establishing key relationships to drive business in Africa.
