Pioneer Investments, part of Italy’s UniCredit Group, has bolstered its multi-asset business with the appointment of Nicholas Pothier as senior portfolio manager. Pothier joins after four years at HSBC Global Asset Management, where he had the same title. Before HSBC, he worked as an investment analyst and portfolio manager at AXA Investment Management. In his new role, he will be based in Dublin and manage Pioneer Investments’ multi-asset global thematic fund of funds, which focuses on significant socio-economic, technological or environmental changes presenting opportunities for long-term investors. He will report to John O’Toole, head of multi-asset fund solutions, and co-manage the fund with Bertrand Paquot, who joined Pioneer in 2000. Pioneer Investments’ global multi-asset team comprises 80 professionals in four different locations. Earlier this month, the asset management group appointed Marc Robinson - latterly of Amundi - as a sales director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
