EFG Asset Management, part of Zurich-listed EFG International, has launched a new growth-oriented Asia fund.

The New Capital China Equity Fund is described as an open-ended equity fund that will invest in up to 50 Chinese and Hong Kong stocks across all capitalisations.

The fund will be managed by Mansfield Mok, a Hong Kong-based fund manager who recently joined the asset manager. He previously co-managed the $1.5 billion GAM Star China Equity Fund.

This latest product is the ninth sub-fund in EFG’s new capital mutual fund range. Last year, the firm released the New Capital Asia Pacific Equity Income Fund managed by Tony Jordan.

“China is widely expected to become the leading economic superpower over the next five to 10 years,” said Mansfield. “In order to capitalise on its anticipated growth, it is vital to be able to identify the best companies.”
