BNY Mellon Expands SMSF Capability In Australia

BNY Mellon has created a new senior role for its self managed super fund business in Australia.

Brigette Leckie takes the role of vice president of intermediary relationships, Australia, as part of the company's efforts to expand its product and client services for the SMSF market. 

Leckie, who joins BNY Mellon from Alliance Bernstein, will be based in Sydney and report directly to Bruce Murphy, managing director BNY Mellon Asset Management Australia. Prior to AllianceBernstein, she was the head of investment markets research at Perpetual and chief economist for BNP Paribas. 

"The SMSF segment is the fastest growing in Australia, but as yet, has not embraced global investing as a way to diversify risk and improve returns," said Murphy.

BNY Mellon has a A$1.3 trillion investement capability in Australia.
