19 June 2012
Lombard International Assurance, based in Luxembourg, has
appointed John Bissett to a team serving private banks. He reports to Stephen
Atkinson, Lombard’s regional head of sales. Bissett has worked for almost 30 years in the financial
services business, mainly in the area of private wealth and investments. Most
recently, he led UK
private wealth management offerings at a large European life and investment
company, Lombard said in a statement, without disclosing its name. Matt Moran, chief executive officer, said he intended
to add further hires in several markets over the coming months.
Lombard changed its top management earlier this year. Moran took over the reins from David Steinegger, who stood down. John Stone, chairman and founder, also left the business.
Lombard International Assurance has total assets under management in excess of over €20 billion ($25.2 billion). Lombard is part of the International Division within the Friends Life group that was acquired by Resolution Ltd in 2009. The company’s largest markets are in Italy, the UK, Belgium, Germany and Spain, Steinegger told WealthBriefing last year.
