John Harris, director of international finance for the States of Jersey, has been appointed to the Board of Jersey Finance. As a second representative of the States of Jersey, he will join the Board with a view to strengthening the links between the Finance Industry and the States. Mr Harris’ current role in the States is primarily concerned with the development of the Finance Industry and related policy, together with managing Jersey’s international affairs as they relate to the finance sector. He also regularly represents the States of Jersey at conferences, seminars and similar events both on the Island and overseas. He has worked in international banking for almost 30 years and has undertaken many operational and management roles in eight different countries. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers. The decision to appoint a second States representative to the Board of Jersey Finance was made at the organisation’s recent Annual General Meeting in light of the increasing funding that the States is providing to promote the Island’s Finance Industry. Pierre Horsfall, chairman of Jersey Finance, said in a statement: “It is acknowledged that with the States of Jersey contributing an increasing amount of funding in support of the promotional efforts of Jersey Finance, that they should have an additional representative on the Board."
