European Islamic Bank Hires Private Bankers

The European Islamic Investment Bank, which received full regulatory authorisation in the UK earlier this year, has hired two senior private bankers. Atif Raza has been appointed chief operating officer and finance director. Prior to taking up this position he was the chief operating officer and finance director of Bahrain-based Unicorn Investment Bank. Jeremy Beswick, is to be head of business development. Previously he was head of asset management at RMB MultiManagers, part of the FirstRand Group, one of the largest quoted companies in South Africa. EIIB, which had its Shariah-compliant status provisionally granted by the Financial Services Authority in January this year, listed on London’s Alternative Investment Market last month. The two new hires bring the total appointments made over the last year to six. Both Mr Raza and Mr Beswick will be based in London.
