BNP Paribas Appoints Indonesia Equities Head

BNP Paribas, the French banking giant, has appointed an equities head for Indonesia.

Miles Remington takes the role of head of equities, Indonesia, based in Jakarta, a newly-created position. Remington has been with the firm since 2002 holding various senior positions, including global head of sales trading and head of multi-product client solutions for the equity brokerage business. His appointment consolidates the French bank's ASEAN product suite for client's looking to invest in the Asia-Pacific region, the company said in a statement.

In this new role, Remington will drive BNP Paribas' distribution franchise in Indonesia, with a focus on global equity research capabilities to Indonesian clients and promoting products to global investors. At present, there are six writing analysts covering the country, particularly on core areas of commodities, consumer and energy. 

At its 2011 earnings report, BNP Paribas said that it will continue to build on its presence in the fast growing Asia-Pacific region this year. The bank has been active in Indonesia since 1970 and is represented by two firms: PT Bank Paribas Indonesia and PT BNP Paribas Securities Indonesia.
