Gresham Partners has appointed Joe Simpson and David Colton as principals of the firm.

Simpson joined the Chicago-based wealth manager as a senior investment analyst in 2005, before which he was a vice president at Merrill Lynch’s Private Banking and Investment Group. He has since contributed to the development of the wealth manager’s due diligence and risk monitoring processes, Gresham said in a statement.

In addition to his investment management role, Simpson supervises the operations of the investment platform, overseeing back-office functions of the firm’s investment partners.

Colton, meanwhile, joined Gresham’s client service team from Neuberger Berman in 2009, having also been an attorney with ShawPittman and a CPA with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young’s national tax practice before that. As well as his client responsibilities he manages the firm’s CPA relationships across the country.

Gresham has just under $3 billion in assets under management and works with families with at least $25 million in investable assets, according to its statement.
