Rathbone Investment Management has launched an Apple and Android app - available via smartphones and tablets - to cater for shifting preferences over the delivery of market and corporate information. The app, which will be free to download for both clients and non-clients, will deliver information specific to Rathbones, as well as commentary on “broader investment markets,” the firm said in a statement. Content will consist of newsletters, share price information, regulatory announcements regarding Rathbone Brothers, breaking corporate news, a stock portfolio function enabling users to monitor their investments, and links to the firm’s pages on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. “People might not necessarily associate the wealth management industry with the cutting-edge of social media, but Rathbones remains committed to providing the highest levels of client service and communications,” said Richard Lanyon, head of Rathbone Investment Management. “Part of this entails constantly reviewing our output, and while an app will never replace the traditional face-to-face contact our clients enjoy, we recognise that preferences over the delivery of market and corporate information constantly evolve,” he continued. The firm said it is “happy to embrace new technology where appropriate,” and that it will continue to develop the app in light of feedback from clients over the coming months. In other related news, Fidelity Investments recently developed an iPad app for independent advisors and family office professionals, using its technology platform, Fidelity WealthCentral. The free app enables users to place domestic equity, ETF and mutual fund orders on behalf of their clients, as well as access client account balances, holdings and transaction activity records. In addition, BNY Mellon also launched a mobile app named P&RA Mobile Dashboard earlier this month, which features information relating to performance and risk analysis.
