Lombard Odier Lures ING’s India CIO

Lombard Odier, the
Swiss private bank, has hired the former chief investment officer of ING
Investment Management’s Asia-Pacific business for a similar role. Pranay Gupta starts as
CIO of Asia and global head of investment solutions. Based in Hong Kong, Gupta
is responsible for building Lombard Odier’s investment capability in Asia and
globally. At the Dutch firm he oversaw the management of $85
billion of institutional, retail and insurance assets. He was also a member of the global investment
leadership team which oversaw INGIM’s total asset base of $484 billion. Before ING he was
deputy CIO of Pearl Group and a senior member of the management team at ABP
Investments, one of the largest plan sponsors in the world. Gupta also held
positions at Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking and JP Morgan
Fleming Investment Management in Asia. He is co-founder of the Global
Association of Alternative Investors, a non-profit investment think-tank of
plan sponsors worldwide. Gupta will report to
Vincent Duhamel, a limited partner and head of Asia for Lombard Odier. “In increasingly
dynamic and complex Asian markets, Pranay will help us to ensure that we are
adapting our global offering to meet the specific needs of Asian clients as
well as those of our global and high net worth clients who are looking for the
smartest opportunities,” said Duhamel. Geneva-based Lombard Odier manages more than $160 billion on
behalf of clients.
