Barclays Wealth Targets Wealth Creators With Two Hires

Barclays Wealth has appointed Paul Wilson as head of employee benefit consulting and has given the leadership of global stock and reward services over to Chris Mowatt.

The UK wealth manager told this publication that part of the motivation behind the appointments is to get closer to wealth creators earlier in their career. By supporting entrepreneurs from an employee benefits perspective and with issues such as corporate protection, the bank hopes to create entrench long-lasting relationships.

Wilson joins from St James’s Place Wealth Management, where he was responsible for the firm's offering to corporate clients as well as heading its corporate marketing division.

Mowatt was latterly at the corporate equity solutions division of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, in charge of new clients and business development.

The new directors will report to Richard Phelps, managing director of Barclays Wealth advisory and head of corporate and employer solutions.

Earlier this year, Barclays Wealth bolstered its corporate and employer solutions capabilities with the addition of Steven Threader, Caroline Sheppard, Tim Parker and David Pinner.
