San Francisco-headquartered Sanctuary Wealth Services, which provides investment and consulting services to independent advisors, has appointed Michael Battey as special advisor of investment strategy. Battey was previously a managing director at Atlantic Trust Company, where he ran the firm's San Francisco office. Prior to that, he worked for Levensohn Venture Partners, Pyramid Technology Ventures, DLJ Asset Management Group, Bessemer Trust Company and Bankers Trust Company. He brings 25 years of financial services experience to the position. In this new role, he will work with advisor teams to develop client investment strategies, and help advisory teams transition from their previous firm to Sanctuary's platform. "Sanctuary has the right business model at the right time to help established advisors that are frustrated with their large firms," said Battey. Sanctuary Wealth Services was founded by a team of former Wall Street brokers and wealth management executives and has a strategic investment from New York-listed JMP Group, the investment banking and asset management company.
