Scipion Capital, the African-focused investment firm, has made two appointments for its London and Geneva offices to support new investment and products it expects to launch in the next six months.

Jonathan Hargreaves joins as London analyst, while Jean Cochard has been named office manager in Geneva.

Hargreaves will help the management team with research and logistics, overseeing the team’s equity and trade investment strategies.

Previously a political and security risk analyst, Hargreaves has worked in various eastern and southern African countries. He joins from IHS Jane’s, the US-based publisher and research firm, where he was a defence industry reporter and analyst.

Cochard first worked for Renault Finance as a junior dealer. More recently, he was chief supervisor of the back-office and assisted the head accountant at Cosmorex Geneva, an international currency market and precious metals broker.

The firm also recently named Chris Jenkins as a chief operating officer to lead the marketing drive for the firm’s Commodities Trade Finance Fund.
