Evercore Partners, the US investment bank and advisory firm, has reshuffled its senior ranks following its agreement to acquire the UK and Hong Kong operations of Lexicon Partners. Stephen CuUnjieng steps in as chairman of Evercore Asia Limited, while Marcus Thompson will become chief operating officer of Evercore Asia Limited, by the third quarter of 2011, the expected date of completion of the deal. CuUnjieng is currently the senior managing director of Evercore in Hong Kong and was previously the vice chairman for ASEAN at Macquarie. Thompson is the managing director of Lexicon and used to work for Salomon Brothers in London and New York. Evercore announced the takeover of the UK advisor in June for about £86 million ($141 million) in cash and stock, as part of its international expansion drive. This includes the strategic alliance it formed with Korea's Woori Investment in late May and the 50 per cent stake in bought in Sao Paulo-based G5 Advisors in 2010. The acquisition is still subject to approval by the Securities and Futures Commission and other regulatory bodies.
