Bank Negara Malaysia has set up a representative branch in Beijing.

The establishment of the new office is expected to help strengthen cooperation between the bank and the People's Bank of China. In a statement, Bank Negara said it will serve as a key liaison point with China's regulators and market players and facilitate market research on the Mainland's economic and financial developments. This is the third overseas office it has established, in addition to London and New York.

China is emerging as a key contributor to Asian and global growth, hence, the migration of foreign players into the region. Just recently, China and Malaysia signed eight different agreements, all of which point to deepening trade and investment ties as Beijing moves to boost its position in South East Asia.
