Appleby, the offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services provider, has named Carlos de Serpa Pimentel as the new global practice group head of its private client and trusts practice division, a role he will assume on 1 April 2011. Latterly a lead trust practitioner at the firm’s Cayman Islands office, de Serpa Pimentel will take over global responsibility previously undertaken by Tim Faries, who will continue to lead Appleby’s insurance practice. The firm said he specialises in all aspects of Cayman Islands trust law and trust litigation matters for both the BVI and Caymans. His experience includes advising trustees and ultra high net worth individuals on the establishment, restructuring and administration of trusts. Most recently Appleby hired Rod Boddy as a new director of trusts within Appleby Services, based in Bermuda. Boddy was appointed to lead a team of trust administrators in handling the operations of Appleby’s trust clients.
