Butterfield Names Group Asset Management Head

Bermuda- and Cayman-listed Butterfield Group has appointed Michael Neff as head of group asset management. As executive vice president, head of group asset management, Neff will head up Butterfield Asset Management in Bermuda as well as assuming overall responsibility for other asset management businesses in the Cayman Islands, Guernsey and the UK. Across the group, the firm has $6 billion of assets under management in Butterfield funds and managed portfolios. Reporting to Bradford Kopp, Butterfield’s chief executive, Neff will join the firm’s executive team and also its asset and liability committee. Neff has held a number of senior roles in wealth management client services and business development functions over his 25-year career in financial services. At his most recent firm, RiskMetrics Group, he served as global head of wealth management, global head of client implementations, global head of client services and co-head of global business risk. In another recent senior level appointment, December saw Bank of Butterfield & Son name Daniel Frumkin – formerly managing director of the UK retail products group at RBS – as executive vice president and chief risk officer.
