BNY Mellon has appointed Eleni Wang as head of client management for the Asia Pacific region.

Wang is based in Hong Kong and brings over 20 years of financial services experience to her new position. Prior to joining BNY Mellon, she was a managing partner at the Hong Kong-based hedge fund Adept Capital Partners. She has also served in senior roles at Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust Asia.

"We are making significant... investments to bring our full range of services to Asia, which we believe will propel the future growth of our clients' businesses and the growth of our global company," said Christopher Sturdy, the firm's chairman for Asia Pacific.

In her new role, Wang will focus on expanding clients' understanding of the company's various securities services and asset management offerings. She takes over from Jai Arya, who was recently appointed head of the company's newly-created sovereign institutions group, and reports directly to Sturdy.

BNY Mellon has 16 offices in 12 countries in Asia and employs some 4,800 staff. Its main centres are in Singapore; Shanghai, China; and Pune, India.
