4 August 2010
New York-based Netik, the financial data management firm, has named John Mason as its new chief operating officer, a role in which he will sit on the firm’s executive management team and report directly to Rob Flatley, Netik’s chief executive and president. In addition to overseeing the firm’s day-to-day global operations, Mason assumes responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of Netik’s sales department and is charged with driving growth efforts within what the firm calls its key market areas: delta one trading data, managed reference data services and data warehousing. Responsibility for Netik’s employees and clients across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, South Africa and North America will also come under his remit. Mason joins Netik from London-headquartered Smartstream, where he was latterly CEO of its DClear Utilities business. His prior career also includes the role of managing director for EMEA at Capco Reference Data Services, as well as positions at BCS, Aleri and GoldenSource. In other recent appointments, back in June Netik hired Frank Sieracki as managing director of North American sales and internally promoted Ed Creswell as head of European sales. Sieracki had been managing director of North American sales at SunGard Trading Systems up to 2009, while Creswell has been with Netik since 2007, most recently holding the role of head of Middle Eastern sales.
