BNY Mellon Asset Servicing has named James Slater to the newly-created role of managing director and chief operating officer for global securities lending.
Slater was most recently the senior vice president at CIBC Mellon, a joint venture between CIBC and BNY Mellon, responsible for its global securities lending, treasury and cash management operations. In his new role, he will be directing the firm's core securities lending functions, including securities trading and product development. He will be based in Pittsburgh and will report to Kathy Rulong, the executive director of global securities lending.
"Securities lending has undergone a fundamental transformation in the past three years, and James' wealth of experience will help BNY Mellon continue to strengthen its lending program while we meet our clients' and borrowers' changing needs," Rulong said in a statement.
Slater will continue to work with CIBC Mellon's securities lending program alongside his new capacity.
