Vanguard Investments Australia has appointed
John James as managing director effective 1 May 2010.
Mr James, an Australian who has been serving senior role at the company's US headquarters in Pennsylvania since 2008, will be spearhead Vanguard's Australian growth strategy. His most recent position, which covers the development of a new global line of business that caters to financial advisors and other intermediaries, like ETFs, is expected to contribute greatly to the company's plans.
"This homecoming is both a tremendous honour and exciting opportunity as our Australian business continues to evolve and expand," said Mr James in a statement.
Vanguard is one of the top 10 fund managers, in terms of funds under management, in the country with over $80 billion under its wing.
Acting managing director
Jeremy Duffield, who has occupied the post since November last year, will go back to his role as chairman of Vanguard Australia and managing director of Vanguard International Planning and Development.
