LaSalle, the New York-listed real estate investment management firm, has appointed Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz as European managing director with immediate effect, to capitalise on opportunities across Europe. In this newly-created, London-based role Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz will be responsible for continuing to develop the firm’s business strategy, exploring opportunities for further business growth and taking advantage of a recovery in European real estate. Working alongside Simon Marrison, LaSalle’s head of Europe, Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz will have executive responsibility for the core investment accounts and funds business lines, amounting to $13.4 billion in assets under management. Furthermore she will assume the responsibility of an international director at Jones Lang LaSalle, the firm’s parent company, and become a member of the firm’s global management committee. Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz joins LaSalle from Macquarie Group Property Advisors, where she was managing director. Prior to MPGA, she worked for Macquarie Group in London and Lend Lease in the US and Australia – where she led the acquisition of the Rosen Consulting Group in the US and subsequently became chief executive officer, responsible for the overall management, profitability and direction of the firm. “We believe the economic environment will yield real opportunities across Europe, magnifying the importance of strong management that can advance growth opportunities quickly,” said Mr Marrison. In March last year, LaSalle hired Insa von Jürgensonn as its regional director and head of portfolio management in Northern Europe.
