London-based Vestra Wealth, which recently surpassed £1.25 billion (around $2 billion) in assets under management, has confirmed that Julian Goodman – formerly of UBS – has joined the firm as senior partner.

Mr Goodman’s appointment sees him reunited with Vestra Wealth’s founder and managing partner David Scott; Messrs Goodman and Scott, along with Philip Harris, co-founded wealth management advisory firm Scott Goodman Harris which was bought by UBS in January 2004.

Mr Goodman’s resignation from UBS came to light in April of this year. Just before, in March, Mr Harris left the Swiss banking giant to join RBC Wealth Management as its UK head.

Vestra Wealth was founded in September 2007, subsequently hitting the headlines in May 2008 after some 50 client-facing and support staff resigned from UBS to join the new firm – prompting UBS to seek an injunction preventing defecting staff from taking valuable clients with them.

The case was settled by a judgement in August 2008: UBS dropped its case on condition that staff who were not already then in role at Vestra did not begin work there until April 2009.

It is believed that Mr Goodman is the first former UBS employee to join Vestra Wealth since the dispute between the two firms was resolved.
