Westrock, a broker-dealer and asset manager owned by the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe of Brule, S.D., has hired former Friedman Billings Ramsey executive Dana Reed as its head of marketing. In this role, she'll be overseeing Westrock's marketing and business-development efforts, with a particular focus on it asset management and institutional-advisory businesses.

"Dana brings a wealth of institutional client service expertise to Westrock," says the firm's president Donald Hunter. "Her track record of success in investment banking and institutional sales demonstrates her keen ability to connect with people and grow relationships."

Reed began her career with Goldman Sachs in 1996. She subsequently worked at Utendahl Capital Partners (where she helped establish the firm’s corporate-finance and advisory practice) and JPMorgan. Joining Friedman Billings Ramsey in 2002, she was head of the Arlington, Va.-based investment banker's institutional sales arm.

Westrock's new institutional-advisory business is meant to provide investment-consulting and related services to American Indian tribes.

Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.-based Westrock had $1.4 billion in assets under management at the end of June 2009.
