Billion-dollar investment advisory goes live with web-based portfolio tech. Chattanooga, Tenn.-based RIA Patten and Patten has selected Advent Software 's Portfolio Exchange (APX) portfolio and client-relationship-management (CRM) platform.

APX is the web-based or ASP version of Advent's Axys portfolio-management software.

Back and forth

"APX is designed for scalability to add new accounts and take on more assets as a firm grows without adding staff," says Patten and Patten's head of operations Clay Crumbliss. "It will be extremely beneficial from a compliance point of view, from a portfolio manager's point of view, from a service point of view and from a cost point of view."

Crumbliss adds that APX is pretty easy to use, especially when it comes to shifting from front-office applications to portfolio information. "We can move seamlessly from contact information to portfolios to see holdings, performance and other pertinent account data," he says.

Patten and Patten manages approximately $1 billion, mainly for high-net-worth individuals. It also uses Moxy, Advent's trade-order management system -FWR
