Investment Advisor Assoc. links with National Regulatory Services program. Investment Advisor Association (IAA) is co-sponsoring the National Regulatory Services' (NRS') two-year-old Investment Advisor Compliance Certificate (IACC) program.
"We are proud to associate our organization's name and reputation with the highly regarded certificate program that NRS has developed for investment adviser compliance professionals," says David Tittsworth, executive director of the Washington, D.C.-based IAA. "Working together, we believe that we can build on the success of this excellent program."
Very pleased
The NRS launched the IACC program in October 2004 to "advance the compliance profession and to acknowledge the heightened role of compliance professionals in today's environment."
The program certifies professionals who complete 60 hours of course work, show credentials of work experience, pass the examination, adhere to a prescribed code of ethics, and fulfill continuing education requirements.
"We are very pleased that the IAA will be helping us in our endeavor to promote knowledge among investment adviser compliance professionals through the NRS Center for Compliance Professionals," says NRS president John Gebauer. "We are convinced that this partnership will help us to achieve our goal of advancing compliance as a profession."
"Compliance requirements for investment advisory firms have changed dramatically during the past few years," says Tittsworth. "Given the recent proliferation of SEC regulations, including the rule requiring all firms to designate a chief compliance officer, there is a compelling need for an education and training protocol that is specifically designed to enhance the knowledge and professionalism of those who are charged with understanding and implementing effective compliance programs."
The IAA (formerly the Investment Counsel Association of America) is a non-profit association that represents the interests of SEC-registered investment advisory firms.
NRS, a division of SourceMedia, is a leading compliance consultancy that provides compliance, registration services, software solutions and training for investment advisers, broker-dealers, investment companies, and insurance institutions. -FWR
