Former MFS vet to spearhead annuity, insurance and pension-product sales. Nationwide has made former MFS' national sales director Larry Milder head of annuity, life-insurance and pension-plan products to the independent broker-dealer channel.

"With more than 20 years of industry sales experience, Larry will be a valuable asset as we continue to strengthen relationships with our business partners," says John Carter, president of Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide's wholesaling unit. "Our sales team is a critical component to providing simpler solutions to investment professionals and their clients, and we look forward to Larry leading this commitment in the independent channel."

In addition heading independent-channel sales, Milder is also expected to help development and marketing of new products -- seemingly a reference to the industry-wide scramble to come up with vehicles suited to retirees facing long life expectancies and mounting healthcare costs.

Milder was head of retail sales for MFS' mutual funds, annuities and separately managed accounts.

Prior to working at MFS, Milder was broker with Merrill Lynch. Before that he did a stint as an associate producer with ABC News. --FWR
