Laurent Garret, a prominent figure in French private banking, has joined as an investor, senior advisor, and president of RockFi Philanthropy, the endowment fund launched by the fintech last week.

Garret previously served as director general of Banque Neuflize OBC, managing over €26 billion ($29 billion) in assets and a workforce of nearly 1,000 employees. The appointment reflects RockFi’s aim to employ experienced industry professionals to accelerate the growth of its wealth management division, the firm said in a statement.

RockFi said it is continuing its strong growth momentum. In a few months, the fintech has launched RockFi Philanthropy, deployed its proprietary AI for its advisors, and strengthened its wealth management teams. Garret’s arrival marks the next phase of this expansion, bringing with him 40 years of banking experience and expertise in private banking, wealth management, and serving high net worth families, the firm said in a statement.

A graduate of Paris-Dauphine University, Garret built the majority of his career in international corporate banking and subsequently in private banking, holding positions at Banque Indosuez, Manufacturers Hanover Bank in London, and Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt. He joined Neuflize OBC in 2015, became president of the executive board in 2017 and subsequently director general in 2023.

As a senior advisor, Garret will support RockFi in its aim to reach €10 billion in assets under management by 2030. He is also becoming an investor in RockFi and taking the helm of RockFi Philanthropy, an endowment fund recently created to support the cause of mental health. At RockFi Philanthropy, he will oversee the selection of the public-interest organisations supported by the fund. Garret will also be responsible for developing philanthropic initiatives among the 1,500 families served by RockFi.

"I am joining RockFi on its journey: reinventing a sector I have always known by using cutting-edge technology. I have been impressed by the quality of the team and RockFi’s speed of execution,” Garret said.

"Choosing RockFi after forty years in banking sends a very strong signal. Laurent brings us rare experience in private banking and wealth management for high net worth individuals, as well as a shared conviction: that this profession can be reinvented without compromising on high standards, close client relationships, or trust. His arrival will help us accelerate while building for the long term," added Pierre Marin, co-founder and CEO of RockFi.

The appointment marks an important step in RockFi’s strategy to expand its position within the high net worth and ultra-high net worth segments.

Founded in 2024 and with a presence in 18 French cities, the fintech supports over 1,500 families and aims to reach over €1 billion in assets under advisory by 2026. It aspires to play a pivotal role in transforming the private wealth management sector in France, prior to expanding across Europe.
