(SuMi Trust AM) has appointed Shin Sawada as managing director of its London office, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust International Limited. He is succeeding Hiroki Moritani, who returned to Tokyo in July and is continuing as executive officer responsible for global business development at SuMi TRUST AM.

Sawada will have overall responsibility for SuMi TRUST's investment management business throughout EMEA, covering client relationships and the development of new investment products for the region, SuMi said in a statement yesterday.

The new London head was based in London between 2013 and 2020, where he was responsible for promoting investment strategies across EMEA. Most recently,  he led overseas business development and strategic planning for SuMi TRUST AM in Tokyo.

SuMi TRUST AM, which is one of the largest asset managers in Japan, has $747 billion in assets under management as of the end of April 2026. The firm, part of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group, offers Japanese, Asian and global equity strategies alongside private market products. It traces its origins to the 2012 merger of Chuo Mitsui Trust Holdings and Sumitomo Trust & Banking.
