has appointed Dimitri Anghelakis (main picture) as a new head of trust and fiduciary services, effective 17 August. He will be succeeding Brent York, who is retiring after more than four decades at the bank.

York will remain with the firm as an advisor until the middle of 2027 to ensure an orderly transition, HSBC said in a statement yesterday. Anghelakis will move to Hong Kong from London.

Joining HSBC in 2017 as group head of business development for HSBC life and insurance partnerships, Anghelakis was later appointed as chief of staff for wealth and personal banking and head of the office of the group chairman. In his new role, Anghelakis will report to Ida Liu (pictured below), CEO, HSBC Private Bank.

The trusts and fiduciary services (TFS) business, which supports entrepreneurs, philanthropists and families with specialist services to help preserve wealth, manage successions and plan legacies for future generations, will become part of HSBC Private Bank.

“I’d like to thank Brent for his significant contribution to TFS, its clients and colleagues over more than three decades with HSBC,” Liu said. “He leaves a business with deep expertise in supporting families across generations and I’m delighted Dimitri will lead it through its next chapter.”
