has appointed Petra Salesny (pictured) as chief executive officer of , Amundi's private market multi-management arm which manages over €24 billion ($27 billion) in private equity, private debt, infrastructure and real estate. Based in Zurich, Salesny will also continue to serve as chief commercial officer, a position she has held since Amundi's acquisition of Alpha Associates in 2024. Salesny is replacing Peter Derendinger, who has decided to retire, a spokesman told WealthBriefing: “Peter Derendinger has decided to retire, in line with a long-term planned succession arrangement, but he will remain a member of the board of directors of Amundi Alpha Associates and a member of the investment committee.” The move comes at a time when a number of investment managers such as California-based Franklin Templeton see attractive opportunities globally within private markets in 2026. Salesny was a founding partner of Zurich-headquartered Alpha Associates in 2004. Prior to the team’s spin out from Swiss Life Private Equity Partners (SLPEP), she was chief operations officer of SLPEP. Previously, she was the legal advisor to the private equity team at Bank Vontobel in 2001 and, before that, a consultant for M&A at Helbling in Düsseldorf and Zurich, where she structured and coordinated cross-border transactions of mid-sized companies between 1999 and 2001. Salesny is admitted to the New York Bar and holds a master of laws from New York University. She graduated from the Law School of the University of Vienna and received a PhD in law from the University of Basel. A subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole group and listed on the stock exchange, Amundi manages close to €2.4 trillion of assets, with a strong presence in Europe and Asia.
