Fidelity International
Global investment manager, , has appointed Christine Baalham and Tom Record as co-portfolio managers in its global equity team.

Their appointments follow Jeremy Podger’s recent decision to step down as portfolio manager from the end of March 2024. However, Podger will remain aligned with Fidelity International in his future role as senior advisor, providing mentorship to colleagues, the firm said in a statement.

Baalham and Record, based in London, will be equal co-portfolio managers on the UK-domiciled Fidelity Global Special Situations Fund (OEIC), and the Luxembourg-domiciled Fidelity Funds – World Fund (SICAV).

Baalham, who has nearly 20 years’ investment experience, previously worked at Ninety One, where she was co-portfolio manager on the core Global Equity Fund and a founding member of the 4Factor equity team. Previously, she worked in research and portfolio management at Schroders.

Record, who also has close to 20 years’ investment experience, was previously at Liontrust where he was a member of its global fundamental team. He joined Liontrust in April 2022 as part of the acquisition of Majedie Asset Management, where he had managed funds for eight years. Prior to Majedie, Record was an investment manager at Baillie Gifford.

“They share a deep belief in fundamental research and active management and have both worked seamlessly in team-based structures. These individuals present the right cultural fit and dynamism to lead this strategy,” Ilga Haubelt, head of equities, Europe, Fidelity International, said.
