UK wealth manager has appointed Paul Canning in the new role of business development manager for London and the South-East.

The role is part of a revamped and regionally-focused business development team, led by Graham Folley, Quilter’s head of business development and discretionary sales, the firm said in a statement. 

Canning previously spent 17 years at Abrdn where, most recently, he was a strategic relationship director. Canning has over 30 years’ experience in financial services having previously worked for Royal London, RSA and Aviva, the firm added.

Reporting to Folley, Canning will focus on building long-term strategic relationships with financial advisors. He will be responsible for providing regulatory and business support and helping firms to grow and run more efficiently.

“Paul’s appointment will allow us to broaden our focus on showcasing how the Quilter Platform can help advisors deliver excellent financial planning outcomes for their customers as we continue to roll out exciting new improvements and developments,” Folley said.

Quilter is a UK wealth manager, overseeing £101.4 billion ($128.4 billion) in customer investments. It has an advisor and customer offering spanning financial advice, investment platforms, multi-asset investment solutions and discretionary fund management.
