Rupert Phelps, lead partner of the family wealth group at , has left the firm. 

Phelps is an advisor on stewardship, strategic governance, family councils and constitutions, succession planning, philanthropy and next generation preparation. 

After a completing a Short Service Commission stint in The Life Guards of the British Army, Phelps started his wealth management career at Merrill Lynch and for many years was at the London office of Bank of New York Mellon, where he set up its EMEA family offices services operation. 

While Phelps' name has been mentioned in connection with some major wealth management firms, he also advises several families which either have existing single-family offices or are considering the merits of establishing one. He was also a board member of an international single-family office based in London and developed expertise in real estate and private equity.

From August 2014 to December 2016 he was director of family office services at Savills, according to his public profile.
