Credit Suisse Taps Former UBS Figure To Lead Asia-Pacific EAM Business

has appointed former UBS senior Asia banker Hugo van Kattendijke as head of its external asset manager business for Asia-Pacific and as a member of its global EAM management committee.

Van Kattendijke will report to Benjamin Cavalli, head of wealth management for APAC at the Zurich-listed bank, according to an internal memo seen by this news service. Details were confirmed by a spokesperson for Credit Suisse last Friday.

Based in Singapore, van Kattendijke will take up his new role on 13 June.

At UBS, van Kattendijke led its EAM Asia-Pacific teams in Hong Kong and Singapore from 2018. He has served in a number of senior management roles, including head of asset servicing for APAC. Based in Asia for more than 18 years, van Kattendijke holds an MBA from INSEAD and an MSc in econometrics from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam.

Among other changes, Sascha Zehnter has been named as head of EAM business in Europe, taking effect on 1 July. He will relocate to Zurich to lead the European EAM business. In all, Zehnter has worked in the EAM space for two decades, promoting Credit Suisse’s business in Asia.

“I would like to thank Sascha for his dedication and substantial contribution to the development and growth of the EAM APAC business over the last seven years. I am confident that we have a strong structure and the best teams in place to continue to be successful and achieve our objectives,” Andreas Oggier, head of global EAM business at Credit Suisse, said in the memo.

As previously announced, this news service is launching an awards programme for the Asia external asset manager sector, complementing the successful Swiss EAM programme.
