Quintet Private Bank-owned has promoted Calum Brewster (pictured) as chief executive officer.

Brewster, who currently serves as managing director, head of private banking and client solutions, will be succeeding Alan Mathewson, who has been CEO of Brown Shipley since 2018 and will step down following a brief transition period.

The group said that Brewster will build on Brown Shipley’s history and UK market position by bringing Quintet’s wealth proposition to its high net worth clients, leading with advice and growing the 200-year old franchise.

Previously, he worked at Julius Baer as managing director, leading expansion across the UK. Prior to this, he served in senior roles at Barclays Wealth, where he was also managing director, and at Lloyds Banking Group in a range of senior positions. He has an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, and is professionally qualified.
“As CEO, Calum will further grow our business, building on Alan’s accomplishments, including expanding our domestic footprint, sharpening our international offering and enhancing our digital channels,” Kath Cates, chair of Brown Shipley, said.
“Moving ahead, we will continue to pursue our strategic growth ambitions – maintaining our focus on the long-term interests of every client we have the opportunity to serve,” Brewster said.
“It has been a privilege to serve as CEO of Brown Shipley, working alongside so many exceptional colleagues here in the UK and across Europe,” Mathewson said.
