, the promotional agency for the island’s finance industry, has appointed Rupert Pleasant as its new chief executive. He is taking over from Dominic Wheatley, whose departure was announced in December. Wheatley is leaving in June this year, after having been in the post since late 2014.

Prior to his new role, Pleasant worked at Beauvoir Group, where he was acting group managing director. He has worked in the private wealth sector for almost 30 years at firms such as Lloyds Bank, Barclays Wealth, Credit Suisse, Investec and PraxisIFM. Previously he worked in Hong Kong and South Africa.

“This is a key time for Guernsey as we look to innovate and create fresh opportunities to promote the island and the finance industry across current and emerging markets. Rupert is passionate about the island and I am delighted that he has accepted the role of chief executive,” Guernsey Finance chairman Lyndon Trott said.

This news service recently interviewed Wheatley about the approach IFCs such as Guernsey take to promote themselves around the world. A feature about this topic will be published later.
