UK-based private bank has named John Maitland as its new chief executive, taking the reins from Eric Barnett when he retires on 1 July.

Maitland is currently commercial director at the bank, which was rebranded from its old name of Societe Generale Private Banking Hambros in November, 2016 to give the bank a more emphatically “British” identity.

Barnett will remain chairman of the Kleinwort Hambros entities in the Channel Islands and a member of the Kleinwort Hambros board, the bank said in a statement today.

Separately, Gabrielle Branson and Mouhammed Choukeir, respectively secretary general and chief investment officer and co-head of wealth management solutions, will be appointed deputy CEOs of Kleinwort Hambros, the bank said. Also, Paul Kearney, head of UK Private Banking, will be appointed commercial director, replacing Maitland.

All moves are subject to regulatory clearance, it added.
