London fund manager Threadneedle has confirmed to WealthBriefing that Katy Dobson, manager of its Latin America Fund, has left the company following a restructuring of the research responsibilities across the Global Emerging Markets and Asia Equities teams. Ms Dobson will make an announcement on her future plans in due course, a spokesperson said.

Julian Thompson, head of Global Emerging Markets, will take over as fund manager with immediate effect.  Jules Mort will continue to act as deputy fund manager. Mr Thompson has 15 years’ experience in emerging markets, including Latin America. He joined the company in 2003.

He has been closely involved in oversight of the fund and, as there is a high degree of overlap between the Latin American holdings in the Global Emerging Markets portfolio and the portfolio of the Latin American Fund, he will be well positioned to run both portfolios, Threadneedle said.

The firm stressed that there will be no change to the investment objectives of the fund or the investment process, ensuring a high degree of continuity.

Threadneedle, which is the international investment platform and subsidiary for US financial services company Ameriprise Financial, managed £47 billion ($68.2 billion) in assets as at 30 November 2008.  Along with a staff of 130 based in London, the firm has a presence in 16 countries and employs 600 staff internationally.
