Standard Chartered Brings In Top Lawyer From Rival For Asia-Based Post

has hired Chris Allen, a top regulatory lawyer from Barclays, as its new general counsel for clients and products, with responsibilities encompassing private banking. He will be based in Singapore.

Allen joins the bank on 16 January 2017 to oversee legal issues across the bank’s main business units, including private banking, investment banking, wealth management and retail banking, reports said. In his new role, he will report to David Fein, group general counsel. 

At Barclays, Allen is global head of regulatory policy and global head of legal for structural reform. Prior to his current role, he was Barclays’ global head of legal for markets and trading, based in London and Singapore. Before joining Barclays, Allen worked for Nasdaq and Baker & McKenzie.

He is serving a notice period at Barclays.
