has appointed mergers and acquisitions lawyer Guy Westmacott as a senior associate within its corporate team in Jersey.

Westmacott joins after eight years with Mubadala Development Company, an Abu Dhabi government-owned investment and development company. As senior legal counsel, he was primarily involved in mergers and acquisitions and has also worked on corporate, project finance and restructuring matters.

“The breadth of experience and maturity he brings to the team borne from significant exposure both in the City of London and in the Middle East will help consolidate our practice which continues to enjoy significant growth following our involvement on a number of major recent transactions, such as the $9 billion takeover of Polyus Gold,” said Tim Pearce, head of Bedell Cristin's corporate team in Jersey.

“Having worked both for leading international law firms and also in-house at one of the most significant state-owned investors in the Middle East, Guy has a very balanced understanding of the dynamics and pressures facing our clients and intermediary partners.”

The firm is part of Bedell Trust, which was bought earlier this year by its managers and private equity firm Inflexion.
