BNY Mellon Recruits Head Of Toronto Wealth Office

has brought in Margaret Franklin as head of wealth management advisory services in Toronto, Canada. Franklin will officially join the firm on July 11 and report to BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s executive director of international wealth management, Erich Smith. She was most recently president at Marret Private Wealth and chief operating officer at Marret Asset Management, a credit and hedge fund asset manager with about $4 billion in assets under management in Toronto. During her six-year tenure there, she oversaw all aspects of the private wealth business, including strategy and positioning, regulation, client oversights, recruitment and personnel management. Earlier, Franklin was a partner at KJ Harrison & Partners, a boutique private client investment management firm founded in 2002. She has also spent time at Barclays Global Investors, Mercer and State Street Global Advisors. Family Wealth Report understands that Franklin is taking the reigns from Smith as head of the Toronto office, who currently serves as interim president. In other recent news at BNY Mellon, the firm promoted Jeroen Kwist to lead its international business, spanning offices in London, New York, Miami, Cayman, Dubai and Hong Kong. Kwist - who previously ran the EMEA and APAC regions for BNY Mellon International Wealth Management - now reports to Smith.
